Overview
iDOP utilizes many sources of data from a hospital to create powerful reports. But iDOP also has a technology team to assist with retrieving that data and we do our own data mapping and analysis, to ease the burden from participating hospitals as much as possible. The general process is that a participating hospital works with iDOP to identify the data they have and can provide as part of the project, that data is "de-identified" and then provided in electronic format, then iDOP maps the data to the iDOP database, imports it, analyzes it, processes it, and finally creates various reports.
What is de-identification?
Patient data in hospital databases needs to be altered so that there is no identifying information (name, social security number, medical record number) - but rather a made up replacement ID can be used. It is still important to make sure Patient "XYZ" has their data from all of the various feeds be properly associated (lab data to the correct patient), while never providing private information.

iDOP's Technology Management Team and Technologies
SmartWebDesign, LLC (http://www.smartwebdesign.com) handles the technology components of this project under the supervision of the University of Florida, in a model similar to how SmartWebDesign has successfully implemented the technology components of the ARM Program (http://www.armprogram.com) for the past 11 years. SmartWebDesign brings technology proficiency in the pharmaceutical arena with experience on many projects including clinical trial tracking software, call center software, complex custom database development, and other projects done for pharmaceutical clients for over 16 years.
The application and database is hosted on SmartWebDesign server infrastructure out of a world-class data center in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey. The Importer is run on external systems as a temporary process that translates and maps the source data, imports it into the Database and then purges it from the importer system. The importer system is not hosted in the data center to further enhance security by restricting access.
All data received by SmartWebDesign is de-identified so that no identifyable patient data exists in the iDOP database at any time.
The iDOP Interface is a custom .NET application created by SmartWebDesign to handle data management and reporting and utilizes Microsoft SQL Server as the database platform.
